Job Description:

Position: General Manager – Garments
Division: Garments
Location: Tanzania
Salary: USD 2,000 – 3,000/month

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily factory operations, production flow, and overall performance.

  • Ensure achievement of daily production targets while maintaining buyer-required quality standards.

  • Monitor and review production planning, materials management, and machinery readiness.

  • Drive efficiency and productivity improvements through process enhancements and lean techniques.

  • Track and enforce hourly and daily production outputs across sewing and finishing departments.

  • Ensure timely completion of all production tasks, from raw materials to finished goods and shipment.

  • Maintain stringent quality control, minimizing alterations and rework, and ensuring only quality goods are shipped.

  • Coordinate closely with merchandising, marketing, design, procurement, and sales teams.

  • Analyze and reduce production costs, maximize capacity utilization, and minimize waste.

  • Monitor inventory levels, supply chain logistics, and ensure on-time order deliveries.

  • Implement and uphold industry compliance, health and safety regulations, and factory discipline.

  • Lead production staff with clarity and accountability; manage recruitment, training, appraisals, and team motivation.

  • Ensure smooth interdepartmental coordination and resolve operational challenges effectively.

  • Report regularly to top management with accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly production data.

  • Serve as a key liaison for buyer communication, quality feedback, and inspections.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Textile Engineering or a relevant discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in garment or apparel manufacturing (ready-made garments).

  • Solid understanding of garment production processes, cost control, stock handling, and quality assurance.

  • Prior experience working in African garment factories will be an added advantage.

  • Strong leadership, team management, and communication abilities.

  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Working knowledge of Swahili will be a plus.

  • Age should not exceed 55 years.
