Position Summary

The Assistant Sales & Distribution Manager – Scholastic Division is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end sales operations, channel distribution, and market expansion of the company’s scholastic products and services. This role ensures the effective execution of sales strategies, partner relationships, inventory management, and on-time product delivery to schools, distributors, and educational institutions. The position requires a results-driven leader with strong experience in education sales and distribution logistics.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Management

· Develop and execute the annual sales plan for the Scholastic Division in alignment with company objectives and market opportunities.

· Drive revenue growth through direct sales, channel partners, and institutional clients (schools, districts, educational resellers, etc.).

· Monitor sales performance by region, product, and partner; take corrective action to ensure targets are met or exceeded.

· Conduct regular sales forecasting, pipeline management, and reporting using CRM tools.

· Identify and pursue new business opportunities and strategic partnerships to expand market presence.

Distribution & Logistics

· Oversee the distribution network to ensure timely and accurate product delivery to schools, dealers, and regional warehouses.

· Coordinate with supply chain, inventory, and logistics teams to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize distribution costs.

· Implement efficient processes for order management, returns, and replenishment cycles.

· Evaluate and optimize distributor performance, ensuring alignment with service and sales standards.

Team Leadership & Development

· Lead, train, and motivate regional sales and distribution teams to achieve performance targets.

· Set clear KPIs and provide ongoing coaching, support, and performance reviews.

· Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with the organization’s educational mission and values.

Market Development & Customer Engagement

· Build and maintain strong relationships with key schools, educational boards, and institutional buyers.

· Conduct market research to understand trends, competitor activity, and emerging needs in the scholastic market.

· Represent the company at educational conferences, book fairs, and industry events to promote brand visibility.

Data, Reporting & Compliance

· Maintain accurate records of sales, distribution, and customer data in CRM and ERP systems.

· Generate detailed sales and distribution reports for management review and strategic planning.

· Ensure all distribution and sales operations comply with company policies, quality standards, and contractual terms.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field (MBA preferred).

· 5–10 years of progressive experience in sales and distribution management, preferably within the education, publishing, or scholastic industry.

· Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing large-scale distribution networks.

 

Skills & Competencies

· Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

· Excellent understanding of scholastic/educational sales cycles and procurement processes.

· Proficiency in CRM, ERP, and data analytics tools (Salesforce, SAP, etc.).

· Strategic thinker with analytical ability to interpret data and drive business decisions.

· Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

· Willingness to travel as required.
