Position: Senior Management Accountant / Finance Manager (Manufacturing)

Location
Manufacturing Facility (Edible Oil & Solvent Extraction)
Reporting To
Head of Finance / Managing Director

Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced CIMA-qualified accounting professional with strong manufacturing sector exposure, preferably within the edible oil and solvent extraction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end financial management, cost control, reporting, and supervision of a team of accountants. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the ability to work independently while managing and mentoring a finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial statements, and variance analysis
• Ensure accurate and timely costing of production, including raw materials, processing, packaging, and by-products
• Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, yields, wastage, and margins
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making

Manufacturing & Industry-Specific Accounting
• Implement and maintain standard costing systems for manufacturing operations
• Strong understanding of process costing, particularly relevant to edible oil refining and solvent extraction plants
• Monitor inventory valuation (raw materials, WIP, finished goods, by-products)
• Support plant management with cost optimization and efficiency improvements

Team Leadership & Supervision
• Supervise and manage a team of 6 accountants, ensuring accuracy, discipline, and performance
• Review team outputs including ledgers, reconciliations, and statutory returns
• Train and mentor junior staff, setting clear KPIs and accountability

 

Compliance & Controls
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain strong internal controls across procurement, inventory, production, and sales cycles
• Coordinate with auditors and external consultants when required

Candidate Profile
Qualifications
• CIMA qualified (full or finalist with strong experience may be considered)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience
• Minimum 7 years’ post-qualification experience
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment (mandatory)
• Experience in the edible oil industry and/or solvent extraction plant will be a strong added advantage
• Prior experience managing and supervising accounting teams

Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting and financial analysis
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
• Proficient in accounting systems and ERP environments
