Role Profile: Group Head of Finance, Strategy & Expansion

Client: Esteemed Multi-Sector Investment Group

Location: East Africa (Group Operational Hub)

Reporting To: The Board of Directors (Direct Interface with Chairman)

Position Type: Full-Time Executive / Strategic Leadership Hire

Client Context & Opportunity:

Our client is a highly respected, diversified investment group with a strong track record of industry leadership across several key sectors. Having successfully built and scaled multiple independent operating companies, the group is now entering a pivotal phase of strategic consolidation and accelerated expansion.

The Chairman and Board seek a transformative executive to act as the group's principal architect of growth and financial discipline. This is a rare opportunity to join at the highest level of a dynamic organization, with a mandate to shape its future, optimize its portfolio, and drive sustained value creation across all entities.

The Mandate: A Role of Consequence:

The successful candidate will serve as the right hand to the Chairman and the operational spine of the group, entrusted with three core missions:

1. Strategic Integration & Execution: To ensure seamless alignment between Board-level vision and on-the-ground performance across all subsidiaries.

2. Growth Scaling & Expansion: To lead organic growth initiatives, new venture launches, and strategic M&A, transforming plans into profitable reality.

3. Financial Governance & Portfolio Stewardship: To institute rigorous financial controls, assess business unit viability, and make decisive recommendations on acceleration, restructuring, or divestment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Strategic Leadership: Translate the Chairman's 5-year vision into actionable quarterly milestones for each operating company.

- Financial Oversight: Consolidate group-wide financial reporting, monitor cash flow, P&L, and balance sheet integrity, and implement cost-optimization policies.

- Expansion Management: Lead the evaluation, launch, and integration of new verticals, acquisitions, and partnerships.

- Operational Governance: Direct central support functions (Finance, HR, Procurement, Admin) to serve as business enablers. Design and enforce group-wide KPIs for subsidiary leadership.

- Portfolio Performance: Continuously assess business unit performance, stress-test models, and advise the Board on portfolio optimization.

The Portfolio: A Mix of Scale & Start-Up:

The executive will oversee a balanced portfolio of established market leaders and high-potential new ventures, including:

- Engineering & Energy - A diversified contractor targeting aggressive multi-year growth.

- Construction - A well-positioned firm poised for significant scale-up.

- Hospitality - A flagship asset with expansion plans into new locations.

- Manufacturing - A facility undergoing rapid capacity and revenue expansion.

- Real Estate - A development arm with near-term asset growth objectives.

- Strategic Pipeline - Including a new quarry venture and a planned insurance sector acquisition.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

- Qualifications: CPA(K)/ACCA/CFA or equivalent; an MBA or relevant Master's is highly preferred.

- Experience: 15+ years in senior finance and strategy roles, preferably within a multi-entity, multi-sector group. Proven expertise in M&A, new market entry, and portfolio management is essential.

- Mindset: Strategic yet hands-on; a natural integrator, decisive leader, and confident advisor capable of operating at board and operational levels.

- Personal Attributes: High integrity, commercial acuity, exceptional communication skills, and a partnership-oriented approach.

Remuneration & Incentives:

Our client offers a premium, partnership-style package designed to attract and retain top-tier talent:

- Base Compensation: A highly competitive net monthly salary.

- Benefits: Company vehicle with full maintenance, comprehensive family medical insurance, and an annual travel allowance.

- Short-Term Bonus: A performance-linked annual bonus tied to group-wide financial and operational targets.

Long-Term Incentives:

- A value share in the group's enterprise value growth over five years.

- An equity option in select new ventures or acquisitions.

Confidentiality & Process

The identity of our client and its operating companies will remain confidential until mutual interest is established with shortlisted candidates. All inquiries and applications will be handled with the utmost discretion.

This is a mandate for a leader who is ready to step into a role of genuine impact, influence, and long-term value creation.
